Substitution of limestone filler by waste brick powder in self-compacting mortars: Properties and durability

چکیده
The feasibility of using waste brick powder (WBP) in the manufacture self-compacting mortar has been investigated this study. limestone filler was partially or totally (0%, 50% and 100%) substituted with WBP. rheological properties, compressive flexural strengths, drying shrinkage durability properties (including carbonation resistance, chloride ion diffusion sulphate resistance) mortars were evaluated. WBP-mortars presented a higher yield stress plastic viscosity than that WBP-free mortar: additional water to be added order achieve equivalent workability. strength slightly decreased after 7 days (the series M ? BP 5.6% 9.3% for 100% WBP based comparing reference mortar, respectively; while similar workability M-BP100WA which on 16.7% it could 26.8 MPa), but decreasing trend seemed compensated by pozzolanic activity remained 28 5.3% 35.6 MPa). substitution didn't seem impair behavior (except resistance carbonation). Therefore, is possible substituting

Estimation of mechanical and durability properties of self-compacting concrete with fibers using ultrasonic pulse velocity
In this research, the performance of ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) in concrete is examined as a nondestructive experiment in order to estimate mechanical (compressive and tensile strength) and durability (water absorption) properties of fiber-reinforced self-compacted concrete For this purpose 11 mixture designs containing 3 types of fibers (steel: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 percent by volume, Pol...

Adjustment of superplasticizer (SP) dosage is one of the main factors in proportioning of self-compacting concrete (SCC) mixtures. The quantity of SP has to be within certain limits to avoid segregation or bleeding, which otherwise could alter the microstructure of concrete and affect its performance in the longer-term. Since SCC is produced with high cement content, some issues, such as high c...

Recycling is a logical option for materials that are not suitable for composting. One of these materials is iron mines waste that, according to their compounds, can be used as a substitute part of cement in concrete. For this aim, rheological and mechanical properties and durability of light weight self-compacting concrete (LWSCC) containing Sirjan iron mine waste (SIMW) as partial substitute o...
متن کاملA study on strength and durability of self-compacting concretes made of recycled aggregates
Given the development of construction industry and design and implementation of high rise buildings with complex sections and various geometrical forms, the use of self-compacting concretes has received the attention of construction engineers and provided great advantages. Due to the increasing air pollution in cities, governments encounter the important issue of repelling the pollutants in whi...
متن کاملDurability Performance of Self Compacting Concrete Incorporating Alccofine and Fly Ash
The cost associated with the application of large volume of cement and synthetic admixtures was one of the major drawbacks of Self Compacting Concrete (SCC), which can be reduced by the use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM). When the demand of cement reduces, the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) from cement industries will come down, which has a positive impact on global w...
